The Kielibuusti project is based on the idea that language is learned where everyday life happens. Not only in language courses, but also at work, while running errands, and during leisure time. Language skills grow stronger when you hear and use the language in everyday interactions. Guided by this principle, we have produced materials to practice understanding and using Finland-Swedish spoken language. They offer realistic examples of everyday conversations and can be used flexibly according to your schedule.

The video Vanliga fraser i kafferummet presents phrases used in a workplace coffee room. The video features Finland-Swedish spoken language. Below the video you’ll find the same expressions in standard written Swedish, along with English translations. With these materials, learners of Swedish can practice listening comprehension, key everyday phrases, pronunciation, and appropriate ways to respond in typical break-room situations. The video is suitable for independent study and as a support resource in teaching.

Lär dig småprata på stan is a video series that helps learners of Swedish understand and use Finland-Swedish spoken language in everyday situations. The short episodes cover, for example, phrases for lunch meetings, introducing yourself at work, and encounters on the street. Each video includes the expressions used in standard written Swedish as well as English translations. The videos have subtitles in Swedish and English. This series is also suitable for independent study and classroom use.

You can find additional materials for learning Swedish on the Kielibuusti.fi website. The site offers self-study materials, tips for language learning, and listings of Swedish courses.
