The word test aims to assess the test taker's knowledge of Finnish vocabulary. The task is to select the words that are real Finnish words from a list and leave out the words that are not. Some words are so-called non-words, meaning they look like Finnish words but do not mean anything.
The word test has five different difficulty levels. The levels are defined based on the frequency of the words. The words are randomly selected, so even the same level test can be tried multiple times. Level 1 tests the knowledge of the 600 most common words. At the most difficult level, the test assesses knowledge of words ranked between the 4000th and 6600th most common words from the Finnish Internet Parsebank mass-scale corpus.
