Kielibuusti 2025–2028 will continue working on language skills of international talent and on multilingual practices of working life. The project will be carried out by Aalto University and the University of Helsinki. All Finnish higher education institutions are invited to participate in the collaboration.
The development work of Kielibuusti 2025–2028 will focus on the employment and language skills of international higher education students, the Finnish (and Swedish) language skills of international staff and faculty at higher education institutions, and multilingual practices at higher education institutions. The project also responds to the multilingual needs of an increasingly international working life in general. In addition, Kielibuusti will continue its nationwide networking activities in the form of webinars and collaboration etc.
In the past weeks, Kielibuusti has participated in FCG's Morning Coffee: How can we strengthen the retention of international students in municipalities? 12 September 2025, Espoo Career Bootcamp 24 September 2025, and Talent Boost Newsroom 8 October 2025.
The kielibuusti.fi website brings together materials, links and tips for international professionals learning Finnish or Swedish and for those who support them. The website's content is constantly maintained and updated. We hope that the materials are actively used and recommended to language learners, their instructors and international companies.
Kielibuusti.fi offers

- for employers practical tools to help make their work community more multilingual and support international colleagues in settling in and using Finnish.
- for career and study counselors tools and advice for giving guidance on language learning
- for higher education institutions models for increasing the learning and usage of the national languages in degree studies and university everyday communication
- for language teachers pedagogical materials for teaching Finnish and Swedish.
We hope that kielibuusti.fi will continue to attract new users and successfully support the language learning journey of international talents.

The following new materials have been published recently on kielibuusti.fi:
- Boost your Finnish pronunciation video series for learners of Finnish
This English-language video series provides practice in pronouncing Finnish vowels and consonants. The material also provides useful tips for teaching. - Ytimessä podcast on teaching prosody, for teachers of Finnish.
This series discusses the prosody of Finnish and other languages, i.e. the rhythm, stress and intonation of speech. The podcast is carried out with Finnish language teacher and researcher Yrjö Lauranto and phonetics and prosody experts Michael O'Dell and Tommi Nieminen. - Yhteiskuntatietoa suomenoppijoille course on Finnish society.
This free online course for A2–B1 level Finnish learners can be found through the course search on kielibuusti.fi, is intended for anyone who is interested in how Finnish society works and wants to learn vocabulary related to societal themes. Teachers can also use the site as an aid in teaching.
The teaching material bank has been remodeled
Entering materials is now faster, as the form is easier to fill in. For example, the form automatically generates the required copyright licensing texts. Now is the time to share your own teaching materials with others!
